Cost

One cost dashboard that adds up cost assignments, resource assignments and activity fixed costs without double-counting them.

Who it is for. Whoever has to answer "are we over budget, and by how much" at a status meeting. Less relevant to a solo planner with no cost data loaded.

What it is for

Project cost arrives from three places — cost-type assignments, resource assignments, and fixed cost typed onto activities — and naively summing them double-counts an activity whose fixed cost is actually staffed by resources. This screen reconciles all three into one categorised breakdown.

What it does

Every line below is in the product today.

  • Three sources, one number

Cost assignments, resource assignments and activity fixed costs merged into a single cost-item set.

  • The double-count guard

Each activity’s resource spend is subtracted from its fixed cost, so staffed work is never counted twice. The time-phase engine applies the same rule, so the two agree.

  • Resource spend split by type

Labour, material and equipment broken out as their own categories rather than pooled into one resource line.

  • Collapsible category breakdown

Budgeted, committed, actual, variance and percent used, per category and per line, with a totals row.

  • Cost traces back to a real activity

Lines label their activity by its Activity ID, so a cost points at a specific activity rather than a name that may be duplicated.
