Data Exchange
Read and write Primavera XER and MS Project MSPDI, round-trip Excel against a strict re-import contract, and print the Gantt to a real paged PDF.
Who it is for. Planners and teams who exchange schedules with clients and delivery partners using Primavera XER, MS Project MSPDI or Excel, and need printable Gantt charts for reviews.
What it is for
Project teams use different scheduling systems and need to exchange updates without retyping them. Import and export XER, MSPDI and Excel, with validation for spreadsheet updates. Retaining the original imported XER file lets exports patch changed cells while preserving data the application does not model.
Retaining the original XER source lets exports patch only changed cells, preserving tables the application does not model, including user-defined fields, cost accounts and financial periods. Support for legacy text encodings and imported calendar hours helps teams exchange existing schedules accurately.
What it does
Every line below is in the product today.
Everything that actually matters, mapped
Activities, WBS, logic and relationship types, calendars, resources and rates, cost assignments, and the financial-period tables — with full mapping of P6 activity types, status codes, relationship types and all eight constraint types.
Calendars read properly, on the way in
Per-weekday working hours and holiday exceptions are read out of the P6 calendar on import, so a 10 or 12-hour calendar is understood correctly rather than assumed to be an 8-hour one.
Old exports open clean, not garbled
Handles the mixed and legacy text encodings real P6 exports contain, so older files with special characters open cleanly instead of showing garbled text.
The source file is kept, and patched
The verbatim import is retained on the project record, so an export changes only the cells that changed. Every table the application does not model round-trips byte for byte.
Export new projects for Primavera P6
A project with no retained source exports as a synthesised minimal document that includes the currency and calendar rows required for import into Primavera P6.
Excel round-trip by construction
Every exported sheet gets an ID column prepended and an empty Delete column appended, so the file you download is the file you edit and re-upload.
Re-import is all-or-nothing
Adds, updates and deletes are validated as one plan; nothing is applied unless the whole file validates. Any non-empty cell in the Delete column removes that row.
A real paged PDF of the Gantt
The chart is re-rendered offscreen at full content size — every row and the entire timeline, not just what is scrolled into view — then sliced into A4, A3, Letter or Legal pages, ready to print or hand out.
It reads and writes with
Activities
The critical-path Gantt where the schedule is actually built — a virtualised table and timeline that computes your dates from logic, calendars and constraints instead of letting you type them.
WBS
Build the deliverable hierarchy once, drag unassigned activities onto it, and save the whole structure as a reusable template for the next project.
Projects
The portfolio register — an EPS tree, full project CRUD, and one place to open, duplicate, or promote a what-if scenario into a real project.
See it on your own schedule.
Send an XER before the call and we will import it and show you Data Exchange running against your data.
